Some days foraging with Littles looks like this…

there are days when the picture for foraging with your little brings up ideas of backpack carriers and expensive gear. However as a mom who has been on a journey of healing from chronic autoimmune disease, many days the energy just isn’t there for the elaborate adventures I once dreamed of having with my little. Instead of throwing out the dream, we’ve adapted. Here are some ideas and examples of what that adaptation looked like at the height of my hashimotos fatigue (or complete and utter exhaustion).

it’s okay if all you have the energy for is soaking up the sun on the first warm day of spring!
And on rainy days when you’re both grumpy an adventure can look like enjoying nature while your little falls asleep.
Don’t forget rock foraging on days after sleepless nights!
Or maybe hunting for puffball mushrooms in the park across from our house.

At the end of the day, have fun and give yourself grace. You can be chronically ill and still make good memories with your Littles out in nature, and hopefully in time you can make steps towards healing and/or symptom management to make it easier to enjoy your life!
